Hikikomori (ひきこもり or 引き籠もり,) is a Japanese term to refer to the phenomenon of reclusive adolescents or young adults who have chosen to withdraw from social life, often seeking extreme degrees of isolation and confinement because of various personal and social factors in their lives. The term hikikomori refers to both the sociological phenomenon in general as well as to people belonging to this societal group.
NEET: N o Educ ation, Employment, or Training
NHK: N ippon Ho usou Kyoukai ( 日本放送協会, Japanese Broadcasting Association)
NHK: Nihon Hikikomori Kyoukai (日本ひきこもり協会 or 日本引き籠もり , Japanese Hikikomori Association, equals to Japanese NEETs Association)
Otaku (おたく / オタク) is a Japanese term used to refer to people, normally in a derogatory way, with obsessive interests, particularly anime, manga or video games.
In a state of delusion Satou Tatsuhiro (佐藤達広) came to the conclusion that the NHK, a Japanese broadcasting station, was plotting a conspiracy and that he was the man who took notice of it, even if he couldn't see their motive behind doing so. He concluded that NHK stood for Nippon Hikikomori Kyoukai and that by airing addictive anime the NHK was aiming to mass produce anime otaku, who normally had sociological difficulties and tend to become reclusive. Thus, they are partly responsible for the emergence of a significant number of NEETs. One day, Satou encoutered a mysterious girl called Nakahara Misaki (中原岬) who wished to offer help to cure Satou's hikikomori syndrome, then Satou discovered that his neighbour was his acquaintance Yamazaki Kaoru (山崎薰) , who is two years younger than Satou and they used to study in the same high school. In the Series, the three protagonists originally aimed to help Satou escaping from his Hikikoromi syndrome, but they experienced many events everyone could face.
